2015 Multistrada S Demo Ride to Riebeek West

On a recent weekday Alex was given the opportunity to help run in the new Ducati Multistrada "S" for the local Ducati dealership. He has friends in high places.

We set off for Franschoek where we had breakfast but the weather made the mountains look risky, so we headed out in the opposite direction and into the Swartland. The lowering sky over the Canola fields made for an interesting setting for photography.

I felt almost apologetic about getting my bike into the pics, but, well, it is damn pretty. So, yeah.

Very tall bike, statuesque almost.

The "S" version comes with LED headlights, undoubtedly the brightest lights I've seen in my rearview mirrors. Someday all headlights will be made this way. Can't help thinking Audi had something to do with them.

All bikes have to pose here.

We kinda had Franschhoek to ourselves.

On the road to Hermon.

Enough of centrestaging the Ducati.

This young lady was walking between two towns and asked us to take a picture of her on her phone. For some reason she chose to pose with the Ducati. Italians know all about Sex Appeal obviously. (Although we have previously demonstrated that Chinese tourists have a predilection for blue Blackbirds)

The Multistrada has Adv bike pretensions, so we had to give that a go.

Easily did more off road work than a GS sees in its lifetime.

Alex has written up his impressions of the Multistrada here. A week later he was able to ride the new S1000XR, surely designed to compete with the Multi. Read that review here.
